Soil Gas Surveys

Fugitive methane emissions from well sites, pipelines, and geologic outcrops have become a significant concern from several standpoints. Fugitive methane represents a loss of a valuable resource and it can add to greenhouse gas emissions and potential groundwater impacts/vegetative stress. Locating and quantifying these seep areas can be challenging without the proper experience and approach. The Cottonwood team can implement soil gas survey techniques in a systematic manner to map aerial extent of seepage and quantify the lost resource.

Cottonwood's soil gas survey services include:

  • Soil gas surveys around well sites

  • Plugged & Abandoned well surveys

  • Installation of soil vapor tube monitoring locations

  • Mapping of seep areas along geologic outcrops

  • Soil gas surveys along pipeline corridors
